The Sulong sa Tagumpay Multi-purpose Cooperative (STMC) formerly known as NXP Semiconductors Calamba Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (NSCEMC) and Philips Semiconductors Calamba Employees Multi-purpose Coop (PSCEMC) was established on November 2001 to provide additional loan facilities and an alternative source of income for the employees of Philips Semiconductors Calamba (PSC).

Founding Members

Sixteen founding incorporators namely Edwin Go, Gibert Lalican, Isagani Ong, Jowey Lumanglas, Joanne Ignacio, Joyce Munsayac, Kenneth Adrian Navarro, Evangeline Nieva, Lakan Mabasa, Emelita Reyes, Janet Sevilla, Reynaldo Dizon, Paulita Dorado, Mary Ann Josef, Emely Sabandal & Leah Cruz attended the pre-membership education Seminar facilitated by the Community Relations Group (COMRELL) of the Light Industry and Science Park II. Each of them paid P500.00 as initial paid-up capital. Week’s later, interim committees were formed and ad-hoc officers were also selected. A series of meetings and sessions were held in order to plan out important activities leading to completion of the Cooperative By-Laws, Articles of Cooperation, Credit Policies and other needed documents necessary for registration.

Chronological Events

December 7, 2001 – The regional office of the Cooperative Development Authority – Region IV finally granted PSCEMC a certification with registration number LGA-5159.

February 2002 – a series of pre-membership education seminar were held attended by an overwhelming majority of employees.

March 10, 2002 – 393 members had their first coop contributions deducted via payroll deduction.

March 15, 2002 – PSCEMC held its first Annual General Assembly Meeting, highlighted by its first ever election of officers.

April 15, 2002 – the coop hired its 2 coop personnel to man the daily activities of PSCEMC.

May 15, 2002 – the first 2 coop loan facilities were opened, the Petty Cash Loan and Emergency Loan.

December 18 & 19, 2006 – The general assembly approves the changing of names from Philips Semiconductors Calamba Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PSCECM) to NXP Semiconductors Calamba Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (NSCEMC).

June 1, 2008 – the coop started its Savings Deposits program to encourage members to save money.

November 5, 2008 – The NSCEMC was recognized by the Laguna Provincial Cooperative Development Council as One (1) of the “NATATANGING KOOPERATIBA” in the province of Laguna.

September 9, 2009 – The general assembly approves the changing of names from NXP Semiconductors Calamba Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative (NSCEMC) to Sulong sa Tagumpay Multi-purpose Cooperative (STMC).

November 11, 2009 – The National Cooperative Movement and Hanns Seidel Foundation recognized STMC for its successful business operations and for having a net worth of more than P100 million.

December 3, 2009 – The Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) approves the re-registration of STMC in compliances with the Republic Act (RA) 9520.

March 24, 2011 – The STMC Secure its tax exemption from BIR

December 12, 2011 – The STMC celebrates its 10th years of existence with a tag line of Ika-10 Taon ng Tagumpay. The highlight of the said event is the recognition to four founding members of this cooperative namely Lakan Mabasa, Evangeline Nieva, Kenneth Adrian Navarro & Leah Cruz. A plaque of appreciation was given to Ms. Virginia Melba A. Cuyahon, General Manager of STMicroelectronics, Inc. for her valuable support to STMC which undoubtedly contributed to the growth of the cooperative.

October 23, 2013  –  STMC receive a plaque of recognition from the Cooperative Development Authority as Outstanding Cooperative – Large Category in the province of Laguna.
